  1. He is a great player, but I hope he’s not the ‘big name’ striker we’ve been promised. He’d be great in the left attacker position played by Vucinic last season. We still need a traditional no 9.

  2. I believe that Giovinco has been bought back at Juve to use as a pawn for Cavani, its been in the news for a while, would I like to have him back, well I saw him feature in the team was rather weak then, but having spent time away on loan has built his character and seen him play for Italia he has improved immensely and the way Conte is going I think he would keep him and play regular which is what the player really wants. I say he is good enough to wear the shirt again.

  3. Hmmm I can see the common sense in using him as part of a player + cash deal for Edinson but, no, I hope for him to be and our attackers to be Giovinco, Matri, Quagliarella, Vucinic and Cavani [or Persie] (but Wenger believes he’s staying at the Arsenal).. surely Marco B is not staying, is he?

  4. I’ve had a wee bit of time to think about this and i still don’t get it. He’s mince. I always thought that if a player left a club you would see his true value dictated by the standard of club he joined.

That is, if Juve let a good player go he will move to a club of similar stature: Milan, Bayern Munich, Man Utd etc. To go to a small club like Parma there has to be one of two reasons: you are either old and past your best or you are simply not of a good enough standard. i believe Giovinco belongs to the latter.

At the time, he was playing in a team of losers. This should have made it easier for a ‘winner’ to stand out from the crowd. Chiellini, Del Piero, Buffon, Marchisio gave the obvious impression of winners and were kept on. The losers category consisted of guys like Diego, Iaquinta, Amauri and that halfwit Brazilian whose name I can’t even remember (what a knob he was), all shown the door just like Giovinco.

The other thing that annoys me is that if we want to make an impact in the Champions League, we need more physical presence to challenge the powerful English club sides. I fail to see how signing someone the size of the Hobbit’s little brother will achieve this. My abiding memory of Giovinco is of him being not very good, culminating in him making an arse of a penalty against BATE in the Champions League. I may be in the minority here (cheers for your support Mario) as people seem to think he’s the dog’s bollocks. Too elaborate to describe him, ‘bollocks’ on it’s own seems more apt.

  5. Forget him being another ADP.But he’s had a great season:15 goals(more than any of our strikers)11 assists and a place in the national squad(ahead of Matri and Quagliarella). All this whilst playing for a “small team”.He’s played with continuity for the 2 seasons and has got another shot with Juve which this time around needs to make it count. We still need a 20+goal “bomber” especially for CL.

  6. No Scozzese I think you’re being a little unfair describing Parma as a small club. I’m not sure what it’s like these days but in the 90’s and 00’s and before maybe, they have produced some high class talents.. many top coaches and managers have also been employed.. I do not regard Parma as a small club and never have. Giovinco is good and let us hope that he can offer something very different and be moulded into Conte’s styles.. all exciting times

  7. I don’t think it was a case of Gio not being good enough, it was that he didn’t have a chance to shine. The management didn’t have faith in him. He had potential, no-one doubted that, but at the time they wasn’t sure whether he would fulfil that potential. They had concerns about his size too, but remember Sheffield United turned down the chance to sign Diego Maradona because they thought he wasn’t big enough. That was why we kept hold of at least half of him, just in case he came good. I think he has.

  8. Mario and Scozzese you both better get use to having Giovinco back in the Juve shirt and is for sure ready to wear the no10 shirt, I rather have him in the squad than Cavani as he is our own a local boy playing for the club he loves. The loan move to Parma has made him a better player and so now he is back where he belongs.

  9. Talking of his size, he’s no much bigger or smaller than the great Gianfranco Zola. Giovinco has many years ahead of him so can easily still reach very high potentials.
